Young people in deprived villages have limited future employment opportunities and there is a potential risk for them to get entangled in the net of the drug menace or other anti-social activities. There is a very strong need to educate them and the substantial long-term value to the community of a modern skill development Centre for the youth was recognized by Swaraj Engines Ltd. (SEL). Training of rural manpower is considered one of the most important strategies for ensuring sustainable development.

Skill development training centers are very necessary especially for rural youth in order to engage them in constructive and income generating activities. When peoples’ skills are improved, they produce more, become happier, and contribute more to the wellbeing of their families, communities and countries.

To achieve this noble goal and provide employable skills to youth of Villages, Swaraj Engines signed MOU in line with the Department of Technical Education& Industrial training, Punjab and in July 2017 successfully launched its Skill Development Center with ultra-modern machinery and well educated & trained faculty members selected by Technical education department. Since its inception this center is being headed by a retired Joint Director of Technical education department with vast experience to run /Monitor Government ITIs both on the academic and administrative side. This center has been providing free skill development training to the youth in Kambala-Kambali& nearby Villages/slums.

Three courses were introduced in this Skill Centre

  1. Field Technician & other Home Appliances
  2. Sewing Machine Operator
  3. Domestic Data Entry Operator

The purpose of Skill Development Center is to contribute significantly and enable a large number of youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will improve their theoretical as well as practical knowledge and help them in securing a better livelihood by bringing necessary synergy, oversight and effective coordination.
